Seven Quintas
Specializing in property for sale in Algarve, Portugal; Seven Quintas is a fully government licensed Real Estate Agency. Our name is drawn from Portuguese history. “Seven Quintas” comes from a Portuguese expression: “estar nas suas sete quintas”, which literally means: “to be in one’s seven farmhouses”. This saying originates from when Portugal was a kingdom. The king used to live in Lisbon, he also owned seven quintas just outside Lisbon, near Seixal where he spent some time with his family. When they were there, they were happy, in their “seven quintas” so to say.

“Estar nas suas sete quintas” is nowadays used to express a feeling of contentedness, satisfaction, or feeling at home. Something like “to be in seventh heaven”, but then more down to earth! An appropriate name for a company that helps its clients find a home away from home.

That is why we put “property search” explicitly in our name. It is always very rewarding to match a property with a client. So it is very important to have a good understanding of what you are looking for. And by property, we mean a well built property in a good location, be it a holiday home, a permanent residence and/or investment property.

Hildegard Borkent, born and raised in The Netherlands, has always been interested in foreign countries, cultures, people and languages. After graduating from University in Amsterdam, she travelled for 8 months around the world, before settling there again. Since 1995 she had been a regular visitor to the Algarve. In 2000, after a career in business-to-business sales for an American multinational, she went to Portugal for a sabbatical and loved living there so much, she decided to stay and started working in real estate.

Over the years she has built up a substantial network and working knowledge of property for sale in the Algarve, Portugal and Alentejo regions of the country. In 2007 she created her own company: Seven Quintas Property Search, Mediação Imobiliária Lda, which is government licensed (AMI 7490) by InCI (Instituto de Construção e Imobiliária, this is the former IMOPPI) and is also a member of the Portuguese real estate association APEMIP (Associação dos Profissionais e Empresas de Mediação Imobiliária de Portugal), member number 3911.

In July 2007 Hildegard attended the NAR course in international real estate in Lisbon, organized by the National Association of Realtors (USA) and APEMIP (Portugal) and obtained the CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist) designation.

Hildegard speaks five languages fluently: English, Portuguese, French, German, and of course Dutch.
